No need to rehash Mark Sanford's maverick credentials. He's so confidently independent that he probably ran away from home at three years old, set up a lemonade stand that sold orange juice, and refused tips.
But Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman? He's engaged in a protracted battle against Utah's boozing laws, and has now come out spoken of supporting civil unions for same-sex couples.
Baptist Planet Southern Religion:
Unlikely to get his views legislated in Utah, Huntsman’s action puzzles most observers, although some see it as an example of pure leadership by a Mormon who has chosen to contradict prevailing public opinion in his home state.
So what's next on his agenda? Selling the Mormon Temple to the Maloof Brothers, and getting MTV to stop by and run The Real World: Salt Lake City.
