P.M. Carpenter makes a trenchant point in comparing Bobby "Ideologue" Jindal vs. Charlie "The People's Pragmatist" Crist (ea):
.... within the GOP the internal division is there. And it's splitting the party more each day. On one side are the pragmatists -- some, such as Crist, with presidential aspirations themselves -- hoping the relevant solutions do work; on the other side the ideologues, hoping they don't, and further hoping that by 2010 or '12 the electorate will have forgotten that their irrelevant solutions don't, and didn't, either.
So in a rather big way, it's the Democratic Party that controls the GOP's destiny.
