An analysis of top Republicans' approval ratings

Open Left looks at favorable/unfavorable ratings in available polls on leading GOP figures over the past 12 months, and arrives at the following numbers (with some key caveats at the bottom).

Net favorables:

1. Laura Bush +54%

2. Condi +29%

3. John McCain 18%

4. Cindy McCain 17%

5. Tim Pawlenty +5%

6. Rudy Giuliani 4%

7. Sarah Palin +2%

8. Mike Huckabee/Bobby Jindal +1%

9. Mitt Romney -11%

10. Mitch McConnell -16%

11. Rush Limbaugh -18%

12. Karl Rove -19%

13. John Boehner -21%

14. Newt Gingrich -23%

15. Dick Cheney -27%

16. George W. Bush -29%

Notes: The polling on Mitt and Huck is from Januray - February 2008. The polling on Sarah Palin and John McCain is post-2008 election, and the polling on Newt is from late 2007.

So don't read too much into this as a current barometer. Still, at the very least, the poll suggests a Sunday full of Newt and Cheney on the talk shows isn't the best idea.
