Corker tags TARP as "slush fund"

Chatttanooga Times Free Press:

U.S. Sen. Bob Corker said today the U.S. government’s $700 billion bailout fund, or TARP, has become “a slush fund.”

Mr. Corker said the Troubled Asset Relief Program has became a pool of money with which [the] executive branch can do whatever it wants with it.

“It has not been carried out the way it should have,” he told the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association’s annual meeting in Chattanooga.

Does that mean TARP was a waste or just that the money was wasted?

.... the Tennessee Republican said TARP, as it was initially passed late last year, probably kept the U.S. from having a financial collapse at the time.
