Palin/Hannity

Key Specs:

a. Sean Hannity credits her with a stiff stimulus fight, telling Palin "you in particular" were a foe. Ask Neil Cavuto about that.

b. Palin savors the compliment -- "those governors like me", but later does a nice job rebounding and acknowledging in this curious juxtaposition "I vetoed a bucket of the money. Not a whole lot."

c. "Maybe we didn't have a good way of expressing, or articulating that message." -- on her campaign with John McCain.

d. Says the people's will needs to win; not Washington's.

e. Says we need to be blunt and candid enough to tell Americans that socialism's down the road.

f. "That was a blast" on the Yankee game with Rudy.

The Good:

a. She seemed far more relaxed and confident than in her national TV interviews during the election.

b. Very likable and breezy. It's hard imagining her carrying the vendetta her opponents have saddled her with.

The Bad:

a. March of the Key Words in G major: She has a lot to say, but somehow not a lot. She needs to develop something more compelling than repeating "big, centralized government" and "power to the people". Again, Mitt's problem is connecting with people; Palin's problem is connecting with policy, and until she starts engaging with hosts not named Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck, it's hard to see whether she's progressed.

b. She needs to minimize the stimulus talk. Her paper trail is clear, and every time she credits herself on the battle it forces another discussion of the facts.
