The half-titular head of Daily Kos -- Kos -- predicts that Charlie Crist will be forced to go Arlen Specter during the course of his 2010 Senate campaign.
It won't take 14 months for that alliance [Fox News, WSJ, grassroots blogs] to drag Crist through the mud and trash his name with Republicans in a state with a closed primary. All those Dems and Independents who love Crist won't have a say in the matter in the Republican contest. And I predict that by the end of the year (or end of Q1 2010 at the latest), the polls in that Republican primary will be tied.
So the question will then be -- at what point will Crist realize that he's in deep shit?
(ea) The better question is -- at what point do ideologically intolerant Republicans realize that the party's still in deep shit, Charlie Crist's a popular air freshener, and dragging fellow elephants into territorial fights does nothing for the party? The Donner Party was forced into cannibalization, but for some activists on the Right, winter's chill hasn't set in.
Just wait for that first sinewy elbow.
