Ex-GOP gov slams Pawlenty for travel

It's no secret that ex-Republican governor of Minnesota, Arne Carlson, doesn't have much use for current Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

And keep in mind Carlson also endorsed Barack Obama in the 2008 elections, so the moniker "ex-GOP gov" can almost be taken literally.

That being said, Carlson's in the news today, attacking Tim Pawlenty for his frequent summer travel to GOP events across the country.

From KARE in Minnesota:

The rift between Tim Pawlenty and the last Republican governor before him cracked wide open Tuesday night, as Arne Carlson suggested Pawlenty put his presidential ambitions on hold and "do the job you were elected to do."

Carlson, a two term Republican governor and former state auditor, compared Minnesota's budget outlook to a tsunami. "This is a time as never before in my lifetime when the governor has to be at the helm of the ship fulltime."

Meanwhile, Pawlenty's spokesman, Brian McClung replied:

"Gov. Carlson has said he doesn't consider himself a Republican anymore.... Some people apparently don't know when it's time to leave the stage."
