Brisk sales for Palin event

On Monday, the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce in Kansas announced that Sarah Palin would be delivering the keynote address at the group's annual banquet on Feb 5.

If you're wondering what, where and why? the ostensibly obscure event isn't so obscure.

Speakers in the past decade have included longtime sports broadcaster Bob Costas, former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister John Major and former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Today the Salina Journal reports that the tickets are selling well, but not out... yet.

Tickets to hear former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are going, going, but not yet gone, Salina Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dennis Lauver said Tuesday.

"Sales continue to be exceptionally brisk," Lauver said.

.... He said that by today, the 1,408 seats on the main floor likely will be sold out to chamber members and gallery seating opportunities will be made available.
