"He would grin at me real cute"

Dr. June Clark talks to the Palm Beach Post about a particular student in 1965.

In her fourth-grade class was a kid named Charlie Crist. "Charlie would always finish everything I gave him to do," Dr. Clarke says, "and would finish it very well."

Once young Charlie had completed his work, Dr. Clarke would ask him if he'd like to take on a more advanced math or science lesson.

"He would always grin at me real cute," she recalls, "and say: 'No, thank you, Ma'am. I'm just fine'. "
