Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will be the keynote speaker at the Alabama Republican Party's annual "Red, White & Blue Dinner" on Feb. 5 in Montgomery.
Republican Party officials said Thursday that Pawlenty will speak at the annual fundraising dinner at the Renaissance Hotel.
In a June 5 interview, Bob Scheiffer asked Pawlenty what the future held.
Note the casual "as time allows" answer.
Schieffer: Will you be out talking around the country? Or do you intend to stay pretty much in Minnesota?
Pawlenty: I am going to, as time allows as a volunteer, I am going to speak around the country and the rubber chicken circuit at Republican events and other events, just to try to lend voice to how we can do better as a party and a conservative movement. I think I have something to say and to contribute in that regard and I am going to look forward to that.
Schieffer: Going to spend a lot of time in Iowa?
Pawlenty: I don't have any plans to go to Iowa in the near term.
