Quigley: Think Rick Perry

Bernie Quigley continues his clarion call for conservatism populism by pointing in the direction of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for 2012.

His method of arriving at Perry is typical Quigley, but the destination makes sense.

If he wins a third term, he'd enter 2012 as the candidate with the strongest executive experience at the state level, and a record of economic accomplishment few could match.

And more than anything: never underestimate this man's will to win. He's the yin to Fred Thompson's yang (although, admittedly, Thompson makes Eddy Curry look like a workhorse).

But does he want to run?

The most telling sign he might be interested in 2012 could be this little nugget from July.

When asked if he'd serve out a full third-term, he replied:

"[That's] up to the Good Lord. I don't try to outguess Him. For me, my intention is obviously to serve out the full four years — whatever distraction might be out there."
