"She admitted she is a gut level conservative"

Red State's Erick Erickson chatted with Sarah Palin today, and a couple things immediately stand out.

#1. What she wrote, and what you read.

Up front, I asked Governor Palin what she wanted people to take away from her book. She said policy should be a take away.

There's been a lot of talk in the media that Going Rogue isn't a policy book, that it's more biographical and anecdotal (Rush disputes that here).

In fact, before its release, it was suggested that how she split the difference might be a good divining rod for her future ambitions.

The fact Palin makes a deliberate point that it's a policy book suggests she thinks she wrote a different book than many have read. And... that she's still focused on leaving doors open.

#2. Does this remind you of anyone?

She admitted she is a gut level conservative, but also said that criticism comes mostly from “shallow people who have not delved into [her] record.”

#3. Here's a creative way of explaining why she resigned.

“I’m not gonna sit down and shut. That’s why I resigned."
