That's Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, ruling out one possible explanation for his rising stock within the Republican party.
From a long, year-end interview with Indiana's Fox 7:
FOX 7: .... it is pretty obvious that in the national sense, you're riding a wave of good vibes, nationally. The national press seems to have grabbed onto what you're doing here in Indiana. What do you think?
Daniels: Well, I think you put that in the right way. What all this cascade of mentions is paying attention to is what we're doing in Indiana. It isn't me. It obviously isn't my matinée idol looks.
It's the fact that Indiana is handling its business, they believe, better than other places. They're busted. We're in the black. They're building no roads, and they're infrastructure is crumbling. We're setting records for investing in our future. We have a health care plan for the uninsured that won't bankrupt the state and has some attractive features. We've cut property taxes in a way that's new and better and innovative. That's the reason, the only reason I sort of appreciate these things. I like it that now in this era Indiana is being looked at, not me, Indiana, is being looked at as an interesting place, an innovative place that's a step ahead or a step apart from other states.
