Public divided on Sanford's fate

Rasmussen Reports polls South Carolinians on their governor, Mark Sanford, and finds a public that doesn't like Sanford much but dislikes the thought of an ugly impeachment even more.

Key Results:

a. Approval rating: 43%/56%, for -13%.

b. Should he resign? 41%/42%, for -1%.

c. Should he be impeached? 36% yes, 49% no.

The surprising result is that the majority of South Carolinians (54%) believe that Sanford is "about as ethical" as most politicians. This indicates that -- at least in on state -- there is an informed electorate.
