That would be NY Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rick Lazio, weighing in on the Democratic side of the gubernatorial race after getting Rudy's endorsement.
“You have to sort of feel some sympathy for David Paterson.
He deserves more support than he has been getting from people in his own party, particularly the leadership in the Legislature and I would add the attorney general as well.”
That attorney general would be Democrat Andrew Cuomo, who hasn't declared he's running, but is expected to.
Polls (pdf) suggest he'd be a much tougher match for Lazio than Paterson, which obviously suggests Lazio will continue to feel sympathy for David Paterson.
