The best exchange between Newt Gingrich and Jon Stewart tonight (emphasis added for best zingers cutting to the heart of the debate).
GINGRICH: We are now so wrapped up in legal mumbo-jumbo, but I agree with you. The frustration with whether it's the military courts -- which have been under lawsuit -- or the idea of building Guantanamo North in Illinois, which will, by the way, be presently unacceptable because it turns out that when you build prisons like that, you actually want to keep them prisoners, and so the very people who hate Guantanamo will very presently hate Gauntanmo North.
STEWART: The whole idea, though, that we must fear these terrorists coming onto our shores likes they're the X-men. I have great faith in our ability as a country to incarcerate people, and when you think about 'Oh, let's keep them in Cuba' -- yeah, no one could ever get here from Cuba.
It's always striking at how comfortable Newt is in any environment -- a sign of true intelligence. Huck's got the same gift, too. Have you seen him get sort of randy on Red Eye?
(The vid of Newt's exchange isn't up but should be available tomorrow AM).
