Santorum to SRLC

The Southern Republican Leadership Conference added another 2012 prospect to its speaker list for the April confab in Louisiana: former PA Senator Rick Santorum.

Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, Mike Pence, Newt Gingrich, and Haley Barbour have already announced they're speaking at the event.

Santorum's been the most explicit of all the potential candidates in actually articulating his desire to run.

In January, he sent a letter to supporters that avoided the usual focused-on-2010 stuff.

Our country needs a President who will stand up for the family and for the traditional values Americans hold dear.

Not someone obsessed with forcing taxpayers to fund unthinkable “abortion mandates” and who claims America “is no longer a Christian nation.”

And that’s why I’m actively considering the 2012 race.

He's already made two trips to South Carolina since the 2008 cycle ended, as well as a stop in Iowa. And he liked Iowa so much he's going back in March to headline an event for the Iowa Christian Alliance.
