John Bolton, feeling confident; then backing off a little in an interview with RT America (comes 14:27 in).
"Well, I think I could win the Republican nomination if I chose to run, because I do think I'm in the mainstream of the Republican party.
I think Barack Obama is beatable in 2012.
But on the other hand, I've never run for public office before. I have no idea whether this is the best course for me, and that's why -- right now -- I'm thinking through whether, in fact, to become a candidate, talking to people who have been in campaigns before, people who have run for the office themselves, to try and decide what to do."
Even though he's been flirting with a bid for months now, he hasn't built an organization of any kind, and so far, it seems he's been using the idea of a run primarily to further his ideas on foreign policy.
