Bob McDonnell would "probably" accept VP nomination

Ryan Nobles, interviewing Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.

NOBLES: What if the party's nominee -- if it were a Tim Pawlenty, or Mitt Romney, or Chris Christie -- came to you and said "for the betterment of your party and your country, will you serve as my running mate?"

Wouldn't that be difficult thing for you to turn down?

MCDONNELL: Probably.

And even though he maintains he's solely focused on his job as governor, he does acknowledge that he wants to be part of the "national dialogue about a reordering of federalism."

"I absolutely want to be a part of that, but the rest of it is just speculation. I want to make sure we have a good candidate in 2012, and I'm going to feel a lot better about the future of the country."
