Santorum: Palin might be skipping CPAC for money

Once again, Rick Santorum shows he's one of the only 2012 candidates willing to take shots at the others.

His latest? Suggesting Sarah Palin might be skipping CPAC because she can make money elsewhere and/or has kids who demand the extra time.

S.E. CUPP: What about Sarah Palin turning down the keynote? What do you think happened there?

SANTORUM: I don't know. You know, I have a feeling she has some demands on her time, and a lot of them have financial benefit attached to them, so I'm sure that she's doing what's best for her and her family.

CUPP: You wouldn't have turned it down.

SANTORUM: Well, no, I wouldn't have turned it down, but I don't live in Alaska, right, and I'm not the mother to all these kids, and I don't have other responsibilities like she has.

Mediaite suggests the mother/kids line is a sexist attack.

But when Palin quit as governor, one of the reasons Santorum attacked her was because of the message he felt it sent to women in politics.

"It hurt women in politics. And although my wife is not an elected official, she was very much a part of my career and she was always trying to promote women in politics. And it looks like, you know, she couldn’t take it, and that’s not a good thing for women.

And you know, I’m — I’m speaking for my wife, not for me. I’m not — I’m not telling you how I feel about it. That’s how she feels about it, and I think that’s — that’s probably going to — going to hurt. It’s going to hurt her."
