Bolton: Huntsman's service to Obama wasn't patriotic

From Robert Costa's chat with John Bolton.

“But I [Bolton] will say this, unequivocally: I would not work in Barack Obama’s administration.”

Bolton wonders why Huntsman, if he is a conservative, decided to accept the president’s appointment.

“There is no patriotic obligation to help advance the career of a politician who is otherwise pursuing interests that are fundamentally antithetical to your values. That’s not the call of patriotism,” he says.

If you remember, in April, the Huntsman team debuted a new spin for his time in the administration.

Top strategist, John Weaver, said that actually turning Obama down would have disqualified him.

“If you’re asked by the president of the United States to serve your country in a foreign policy or national security role and you don’t do it,” Mr. Weaver said, “that’s disqualifying.”
