Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has been working to raise his national profile without spending lots of time outside the commonwealth, out-of-state travel records released by his office show.
In the first six months of this year, the Republican governor left Virginia eight times for politically oriented trips, according to records obtained by The Washington Times.
And in a sign of just how limited those numbers are...
The Democratic Party of Virginia declined to comment for this article.
Other nationally-ambitious governors (e.g. Chris Christie and Bobby Jindal) have taken heat from Dems, anxious to score points off their frequent absences.
But McDonnell doesn't seem to be giving Dems too much ammo on this one.
