"Surrender": Gingrich rips McConnell's plan

On Fox News last night, Newt Gingrich said Mitch McConnell's plan to end the debt showdown was akin to waving a white flag.

"I am deeply opposed to Senator McConnell's plan.

First of all, it transfers enormous power to the president.

Second, in the real world, it will be easy for the president to get 34 Democratic senators to sustain his veto, so there'll be no real cuts.

The way it's written, I think, is basically surrender by the Republicans. Now is the time to be calm, courageous, creative, and clear."
