Gingrich rips Obama's "fantasy tour"

Newt Gingrich hit Barack Obama on Fox News last night for the president's upcoming bus tour through the Midwest.

"The president is going to go on a week- long bus tour of the Midwest. It's almost like a fantasy tour. The fact is, if the president is serious about job creation, first of all, he had better come up with a lot bigger proposals than we're seeing.

You don't get out of 9.2 percent unemployment, you don't get out of -- today it was announced the largest number of Americans on food stamps in history. I've said now for six months this is the most effective food stamp president in American history."

Obama's "listening tour" will take place August 15-17, and is set to take him to some of the most important battleground states in the country -- a fact not lost on many who view the trip as a thinly-veiled excuse for boosting his reelection chances.

The White House claims it's merely a chance to engage with people on the jobs and economy.
