On Fox News last night, Tim Pawlenty set expectations for next week's straw poll in Ames, Iowa.
"I think it's the kickoff to the formal campaign season. There's a lot of preseason warmups, but this is going to be the start of the formal season, and I think we're going to do very well. I'm confident of that.
.... We're going to continue to get good momentum, and I think you're going to see the first step of that in the straw poll next week."
Winning or coming in a strong second in the August 13 contest is vital for the Pawlenty campaign, as he tries to reassure donors that he's a serious candidate.
