SOUTH CAROLINA: Romney edges Santorum

Rasmussen Reports delivers the first, post-Iowa poll of South Carolina this beautiful Friday morning and finds a very close match at the top.

1. Mitt Romney 27%

2. Rick Santorum 24%

3. Newt Gingrich 18%

4. Ron Paul 11%

5. Rick Perry 5%

6. Jon Huntsman 2%

The operative word, though, is -- of course -- "fluid!", as in 48% say they could still change their minds.

For Santorum, it's a meteoric rise. He was at just 1% just two months ago, and is now closing in on Romney.

Meanwhile, Perry continues to flounder in the state -- even though it's populated by southern accents.

Expect him to spend a lot of money there, and it will probably make a difference -- a big enough difference to give Romney the win, perhaps.
