Quinnipiac poll: It's Obama's likabiliy vs. Romney's strength on economy

Yet another poll suggests that this race is going to be about Barack Obama's personal appeal vs. Mitt Romney's strength on jobs and the economy.

The new Quinnipiac poll shows Obama ahead of Romney on likability (+18%) and empathy (+13%), while Romney leads on the economy (+4%), creating jobs (+3%), and gas prices (+13%).

Of course, there are other issues (health care, immigration, foreign policy etc.,), but the economy will likely be supreme and likability will be a current that runs through and magnifies or diminishes everything else.

(I wrote about all this yesterday; if you missed it -- click here).

Meanwhile, overall, Barack Obama leads 46%-42%.

Now, about the gender gap, which pretty much everyone is going to tie to the "war on women." Obama leads Romney by 10% with women. That's actually a smaller lead than in 2008 when he beat McCain by 13% among women! Women have always leaned left; men right, and nothing suggests that the "war on women" has exaggerated that.
