A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Barack Obama with a solid 49%-39% lead over Mitt Romney in New Jersey.
The polarization is intense.
Romney only siphons off 2% of the Democratic vote, while Obama only picks up 5% of Republicans. Indies, though, favor the president, 44%-41%.
Women pick Obama by 18%, while men are split. And in one of the biggest routes since Super Bowl XXIV (which is not the size of an item of clothing at Walmart), Obama wins among blacks, 92%-1%.
Polling as been remarkably consistent in Jersey over the past six months. Obama has led by 6%, 9%, 10%, 10%, 9%, and 10%, respectively.
And in case you were wondering, adding the state's extraordinarily popular governor (+19% approval rating), Chris Christie, to the ticket would only shave 2% off Obama's 10% lead.
Further, there's nothing indicating there's even the slightest opening for Romney in Jersey. Obama's fav number is +13% and his approval rating is +10%.
