Poll shows Obama ahead by only 6% with women

It could be an outlier, but a new Sachs/Mason-Dixon poll shows Mitt Romney leading Barack Obama, 47%-44%, and holding his own with female voters.

In fact, the gender gap actually favors Mitt in this survey. Men pick hiim by 13%, while women only pick Obama by 6%.

Also notable, Romney leads among indies, 47%-41%.

Here's what I'm curious about. Over the past month, we've heard about the GOP war on women relentlessly, and quite a bit of the media has joined in on the chorus.

To wit: How many times have you heard people talk about the alleged war on women and gender gap in the same breath?

A LOT.

But there's always been a healthy gender gap, and much of the polling on Romney vs. Obama has boasted no greater gender gap than normal.

In other words, it doesn't seem like the hyped "war on women" ever actually mattered, and if Obama does beat Romney by a fair margin with female voters, it won't be any different from a normal presidential election
