Romney doesn't expect Santorum endorsement today

Even though Rick Santorum is expected to endorse Mitt Romney eventually, Mitt deflected a question about it on Fox News this morning in advance of their meeting today.

GRETCHEN CARLSON: Are you expecting to get Rick's endorsement today?

ROMNEY: Well, I expect that you're going to see us all come together. You see in our party a great deal of enthusiasm about making sure we get America back on track.

[A bit later, Carlson followed up]

CARLSON: Do you think he'll endorse you today after that meeting? Governor, I don't mean to interrupt you, but...

ROMNEY: ... I don't think we have plans for an endorsement today, but I think all Republicans will come together in the final analysis and support my candidacy.

We said so on the stage when we were running in debates against one another.

No one doubts Santorum will come around, but reports suggest he's still bitter and his adviser, John Brabender, seems to be trying to score a "major role" for him at the convention.
