Thune: "Women, in particular, are struggling"

South Dakota Senator and possible vice-presidential candidate, John Thune, pens an op-ed for Fox News about student loans and then suddenly pivots into a broader discussion on the economy and this key talking point in the battle for women.

Women in particular are struggling.

The poverty rate for women has reached a 17-year high, and there are nearly 700,000 fewer women working today than when President Obama took office.

Mitt Romney has paid particular attention to the prospects of women in the Obama economy as he tries to eat into the gender gap, and as Republicans make clear they won't let Obama's "war on women" talking points define the issue.
