RCP's Erin McPike has a good look at the potential First Lady's first big push in the general election.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Romney joined Florida state Sen. Anitere Flores in Miami to speak to a group of women, her first event of the general election without her husband, and also the first time the campaign has advised an event of hers in months.
She also headlined a fundraiser in Miami and appeared the next day in Ocala, where she visited the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association at the request of the area’s GOP congressman, Cliff Stearns.
.... In both instances, she was there to relate to voters about their struggles and to serve as a character witness for her husband, who has focused almost exclusively on criticizing President Obama’s stewardship of the economy during his events (while doing little to promote himself personally).
Ann is often called Mitt's most effective surrogate (although Ed Rendell is quickly rising, with Bill Clinton close behind).
