Obama TV ad hammers Romney's record on debt

So far, Barack Obama's team has made the general election more about Mitt Romney's private and public sector records than about his policy prescriptions.

A big part of that is a push to define who Romney is before getting into precisely where he'll allegedly go.

His newest TV ad keeps up the heat on Romney's record as Massachusetts governor, but focuses first and foremost on the state's debt.

That's an interesting line of attack, considering that Mitt consistently has his biggest lead (usually double-digits) against Obama on debt/spending. Jobs, of course, are still preeminent in voters' minds, but this ad is a nod to the fact that Romney's been increasingly pounding Obama on the debt and a nod to the reality that Europe's problems could worsen and infect U.S. perceptions about big debts and heavy spending.

Here's the spot, which will run in Florida, Colorado, Virginia, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
