Romney defends Massachusetts record in new TV ad

Mitt Romney is out today with the third in his series of "Day One" TV ads that imagine what the first day of a Romney presidency would look like.

He cleverly looks forward by looking back at his record in Massachusetts, which the Obama campaign started attacking more forcefully this week.

"Mitt Romney on Day 1: The difference is strong leadership," the narrator begins; then pivots to Romney's record as evidence that he will, in fact, have a good first day as president.

Obviously, one ad isn't going to sufficiently beat back attacks on his record, but it's smart to get a jump on defending it.
