John Thune, who is among a host of GOP stars and Veep prospects invited to a retreat with Mitt Romney this weekend, scoffs at talk that it's anything more than a simple huddle.
"I think that those of us who've served as surrogates for Governor Romney were invited, and it's an opportunity to plan and sort of strategize about the fall campaign.
.... I don't view it as any kind of an audition. It's simply an opportunity for a lot of the folks who've supported Governor Romney -- both contributed to his campaign and served as surrogates -- to get together to talk about the campaign and the direction for the fall."
The weekend retreat in Utah will feature VP names like Bobby Jindal, Paul Ryan, and Thune; and will also get appearances from GOP big-wigs like Karl Rove and Condi Rice.
