Charles Krauthammer claims Mitt Romney has the advantage, because Obama can't change the economy, but Romney can change his image.
"Romney has the ultimate edge.
There's no way the economy will turn around between now and the election day; whereas, it's not inconceivable -- it's likely, actually -- that Romney can change the perception of him as a stiff, stolid, plutocrat who cares nothing.
All he has to do is show up in the debates that he's human.... the minute Romney does, he'll win the election."
Granted, there were much different external circumstances in 2000, but people made the humanization argument about Al Gore, and barring that convention kiss, he was never able to turn himself into a whimsical, winking leprechaun.
