On Fox News this morning, John McCain pulled out the torture card after being asked about Dick Cheney's claim that Sarah Palin wasn't ready to be president in 2008.
"I'm always glad to get comments four years later. Look, I respect the vice-president. He and I had strong disagreements as to whether we should torture people or not. I don't think we should have.
But the fact is that I'm proud of Sarah Palin, I'm proud of the job she did, I'm proud of the job she continues to do, and so everybody has their own views and I respect those views, but I'm proud of what she did."
1. You can probably interpret the torture comment as a slam on Cheney's discernment, in general, which I suppose has some bearing on the vice-presidential question.
Nevertheless, at first glance, it looks terribly out of place.
2. Look at McCain and Kelly Ayotte sitting together! Very '08 ticket-ish.
