Due to the Colorado shooting, Mitt Romney's campaign has canceled Marco Rubio's scheduled trip to Colorado and is rerouting him to Iowa this weekend.
Rubio will arrive in Iowa on Saturday for an evening rally – making him the third big-name Romney backer to drop in on the Hawkeye State within a three-day period.
Iowa's status as a battleground state is turning out to be awfully convenient for potential '16 candidates who can forge helpful contacts while technically being there for Mitt.
To wit: Bobby Jindal and Bob McDonnell are there today, and Jeb Bush (who's been pumping up Rubio for Veep) will make a trip to the state in fall.
Finally, some fun curio for you -- there's an "unincorporated community" in Iowa called "Rubio", which is named after a former president from Mexico.
