Hogan Gidley, a former adviser for Rick Santorum's erstwhile presidential bid, tells Talking Points Memo that his boss tried to warn voters about Mitt Romney's difficulty with prosecuting the case against ObamaCare.
“It’s a problem, I’m not going to lie.... Here we are a couple months into the general and you’re going, ‘Hey wait a minute, that Rick Santorum was right'."
If you remember, Santorum often warned Republicans about nominating Romney, thanks to RomneyCare's striking similarities to ObamaCare.
In March, Santorum asked a Wisconsin audience.
"Why would the Republican Party nominate someone who agrees with that mandate, on the most important issue of the election?"
That being said, I don't know of anyone without the last name of "Santorum" who actually thinks Rick would've been a stronger nominee. A stronger messenger on health care? Maybe. But this election is still all about the economy.
