Clinton comes to Obama's aid in new TV ad

Barack Obama is releasing a TV ad today, featuring Bill Clinton chatting with the camera for 30 seconds and framing the choice as one between an economy with deregulation and tax breaks for the rich, and one focused on rebuilding America "from the ground up."

The money quote?

"We need to keep going with his plan."

On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough noted the irony this morning that Clinton, who was sort of shoved to the back in 2008 by the Obama camp, is once again the "alpha dog" in the party.

Meanwhile, Mike Barnicle said it's good politics.

"I would handcuff myself to Bill Clinton if I were Barack Obama, and say 'I'm not going to let this guy out of my sight. He's going to be co-president with me'."

Strong ad, and ironically, it's at least the FIFTH time a Clinton has showed up in an ad. Romney and his allies have used a Clintons' name or visage four times this cycle.
