A new Washington Post/ABC poll shows declining favorable ratings for Mitt Romney, most damagingly among independents.
Only 37% of independents look at Romney favorably, while 50% look on him unfavorably.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama is at 53% positive and 40% negative with the key demographic. That means Obama is a net +26% higher than Romney.
Of course, favorable ratings don't necessarily translate to votes, but they often inform them.
Among all voters, Romney is at a 40%/49% favorable rating.
Clearly, something isn't working for Romney. He and his allies have been running more negative ads than positive ones (Obama's camp, too), and those do nothing to raise a candidate's favorable ratings (in fact, they often hurt them).
He needs a big convention kiss with Ann, maybe a gold in the men's 400IM, or possibly a touching reunion with Seamus*.
