You know that supposedly rocky Gallup/USA Today poll yesterday that led many to compare Ryan with Dan Quayle?

It turns out that it'd be far more accurate to compare perceptions of his readiness with Joe Lieberman's after the supremely qualified Lieberman was picked for Veep. After all, Ryan is 12% closer to Joe's initial rating than he is to Quayle's.

It would have been enormously different to unleash a headline lumping Ryan and Lieberman together than Quayle and Ryan, and this survey suggests that's exactly what should have happened.
