Gallup: Obama gets a bounce

A new Gallup tracking poll shows Barack Obama jumping to a 48%-45% lead over Mitt Romney -- a gain of 3%.

But the far more important number is his approval rating, which stands at 52%/43%. That's a 9% gain, and according to Real Clear Politics, it's his highest rating since June.

So the horse race didn't break open, but if he's sitting at 52% approval on election day, he's got this thing wrapped up.

The big question, though? How will today's bad jobs report, Mitt Romney's ad blitz, and the inevitable ebb of three days of gushing convention coverage affect that approval rating?
