Here's the TV primetime lineup of speakers for Day One at the DNC convention.
10PM - 11PM:
a. Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley
b. Joaquin Castro, brother to the keynote speaker.
c. Mayor Julian Castro will give the keynote address.
d. Michelle Obama
That's a big symbolic score for O'Malley, who seems to be sweet on a 2016 bid (Maggie Haberman notes that the governor will also speak at the Iowa delegation's breakfast on Wednesday).
As for the rest of today's schedule, Debbie Wasserman Schultz kicks things off at 5 PM, and following her, you'll get to hear Steny Hoyer, Bev Perdue, Rep. Barbara Lee, Cory Booker, Rep. Charles Gonzalez, Rep. Nydia Velazquez, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, Tim Kaine, Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, Harry Reid, Joe Kennedy III, Robert Wexler, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, Rep. Jared Polis, Lincoln Chafee, Rep. James Clyburn, Ted Strickland, Rahm Emanuel, and Deval Patrick.
What stands out here?
There are nearly as many mayors (4) as current governors (5) on that list, which speaks to Democrats' big deficit to the GOP in terms of top star power.
