South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says that repeating a claim doesn't make it true.
Haley, on Fox News:
"I think the Democrats think if they say Republicans hate women enough that women will start to believe it."
One of the oddest charges from the last month is that Mitt Romney is somehow race baiting thanks to his welfare ads, but that claim is based on tenuous assumptions and a whole series of leaps with nothing substantial to back them up.
Meanwhile, Democrats have been relentlessly pushing the "War on Women" charge which skips the tenuous assumptions and goes straight into explicit baiting that's as subtle as a bazooka in a library .
Romney has never said Obama is waging a war on whites, but Democrats are saying it on-record and with the loudest microphones.
The extremity of the "War on Women" charge is usually treated, generously, like a partisan talking point; not the rank and explicit play on fear and identity politics that it is.
