Cook-in-the-Kitchen Monday continues with Donald Trump contrasting Mitt Romney's team unfavorably with Barack Obama's on Fox & Friends today.
" You have to say one thing about Obama -- he's got an amazing team of people around him. Amazing.... we need somebody to go in there and really attack, because otherwise they're going to lose the election."
Fox & Friends host, Brian Kilmeade, then explicitly asked whether Romney's campaign team was "lacking."
Trump wasn't willing to directly answer but said "we should be winning in a landslide" and that the Democratic convention was "much better" than the GOP convention.
"It's too early to say. All I know is this -- the economy is horrible, he's the worst president ever on foreign policy.... we should be winning in a landslide. We're not, so something's wrong.
The Republicans are doing something wrong. Their convention was not good. The Democrats had a much better convention. Something is wrong with the Republicans, and they have to get tougher and smarter or they're going to lose this election, and it's almost impossible to lose."
Btw, I'm not posting this because Trump is some Clausewitz, but simply because it's a reflection of another GOP mini-panic about the Romney campaign's strategy and the state of the race.
The old GOP gripe was that polls showing Romney narrowly behind were biased. The new gripe is that polls shouldn't even show a close election, that Romney should be handily winning (as Laura Ingraham complained last week).
