A new Gallup poll has some good numbers for Barack Obama -- the most notable being that by 53%-43%, respondents say that a second Obama term would be better for middle-income earners than a first Mitt Romney term.
Also encouraging for the president -- Americans are split, 47%-47%, on which candidate would be better for small business owners. Romney has made overtures to small business a crucial component of his campaign, so Obama's tie is notable.
The caveat? The Gallup survey is of all Americans; not registered or likely voters, who tend to be much friendlier to Republicans than the more inclusive "All Americans". Thus, this isn't a terrific representative of the voting population (which, of course, is the only population that matters on November 6).
