Sesame Street to Obama: Drop the Big Bird ad, please

The Hill's Daniel Strauss reports:

Sesame Street has asked the Obama campaign to remove an ad featuring Big Bird. "Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns," a Tuesday statement on Sesameworkshop.org reads.

"We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down."

If you remember, Obama's campaign released a TV ad this morning suggesting Romney would fight Big Bird but go easy on Bernie Madoff.

It was the inevitable but still unbelievable conclusion of a week's worth of web ads and stump speeches from the Obama campaign, trying to score points, post-debate, via Big Bird.

(There's no way you can write that sentence or any sentence about The Big Bird stuff without pinching yourself. This is how Josephus would probably feel if he were hired to write by TMZ).
