Wisconsin: Obama 51% Romney 43%

A new Marquette University poll shows Barack Obama expanding a 1% lead in Wisconsin to 8%, as he now leads Mitt Romney, 51%-43%.

So that's obviously a welcome bounce for Obama.

Even more welcome for the president, he now leads with independents, 46%-41%. In the pollster's previous survey, Romney led indies by 4%, and it would be nigh impossible for Mitt to take a traditionally blue state like Wisconsin unless he carries independents.

Some more key numbers:

a. Obama leads on the economy, 49%-47%.

b. Romney leads on the deficit, 49%-47%.

c. Obama leads on taxes, 51%-44%.

d. Obama leads on health care, 52%-44%.

e. Obama leads on foreign policy, 54%-40%.

f. Obama leads on social issues, 56%-38%.

In other words, Obama leads on almost everything.

Do yourself a favor and read the full breakdown of the poll.

What things keep going back to is that Obama really steadied himself after the second and third debates. Romney helped himself with the debates even more, but at least in this poll, not enough to overcome Obama's lead.

I'd be remiss to mention that Rasmussen showed this race tied last week, but beyond that, Obama's led in every Wisconsin poll since August.
